Holiday Skin SOS! Complexion Saviours For Summer

Most of us look forward to warmer weather and summer holidays. The sun can be good for your skin, but it can also be problematic. If you’re looking for ways to boost your complexion and achieve a radiant glow this summer, look no further. Here are some skin saviours to invest in before you jet off on holiday. (Top image credit: Pixabay).

This is the most important skincare investment you can make this summer. Sunlight has benefits for your skin, but it can also cause long-term damage. Exposure to harmful UV rays contributes to premature ageing, burning and skin damage. If you’re going on holiday or you’re heading out on a sunny day, always apply cream. Go for a high factor if you burn easily. Reapply your cream throughout the day. This is particularly important if you’re swimming or sweating a lot.

Summer skin perfectors

If you dread the thought of going anywhere without makeup, the prospect of baring all on the beach may be daunting. If you’re not confident about your skin, don’t panic. There are some excellent complexion make up products out there for summer. When it’s hot, you don’t want heavy products on your face. Swap powder foundation for liquid or go for a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. These are lighter products, which won’t clog your pores. You can enjoy the coverage you need, and your skin will be able to breathe. If you have clear skin, but you have a couple of problem areas, use a small amount of concealer instead of applying products all over your face.

Drinking water is important at any time of the year. But it’s particularly beneficial in the summer. If you’re sweating in the heat, your body is losing fluid. You need to increase your intake of water to replace this lost liquid and stay hydrated. Drinking water helps to keep your skin looking bright and healthy and feeling soft.

If you’re on holiday and you’re applying sunscreen every day, it’s essential to cleanse your skin. Washing or wiping your face removes impurities, dirt and sweat. Never go to bed without removing makeup. This will clog your pores and increase the risk of outbreaks. Cleanse daily, and exfoliate once or twice a week.

Moisturiser nourishes your skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. If you’ve been out in the sun all day, moisturiser is essential. Choose a product, which suits your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, avoid perfumed lotions. If you have oily skin, it’s best to choose lighter serums over thick creams.

Summer is great news for those looking forward to time off, sun-drenched days and travelling. But it may be bad news for your skin. The warm weather can increase your risk of dehydration, and make your skin look and feel dry. If you’re eager to enjoy that gorgeous holiday glow, invest in some skin-saving products. Cleanse and moisturise daily, and always apply sunscreen before you go out.

Swap full coverage products for lightweight complexion makeup. This will make your skin look flawless without suffocating it. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water and always take time to remove your makeup before going to sleep.

How To Achieve Flawless Glowing Skin

With the summer fast approaching, many of us are turning our minds to holidays, and planning outfits and new makeup looks. When warmer climes arrive, it’s time to showcase your natural beauty and embrace the ‘less is more’ mantra. Here are some tips to help you achieve flawless, glowing skin this summer.

Target skin problems

If you have problem skin, and you’re desperate to look your best for summer, now is the time to act. Step up your skincare regime and visit your doctor if you have persistent issues. If you suffer from acne, for example, there are therapies out there that can have amazing effects. Doctors and dermatologists can prescribe medications. You could also try remedies such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Take a look at www.healthyskinsolutions.com/acne-acne-vulgaris-treatment-for-papules-and-pustules/ for more information about acne treatments.

Take five minutes each day to cleanse and moisturize your skin. Choose products, which suit your skin type. If you’re not sure what to buy, consult a skin care expert for advice or read some reviews online.

Invest in the right cosmetics

In the winter months, we tend to use more makeup and also opt for more dramatic looks. In the summer, it’s all about daring to bare and going for a more natural finish.

To achieve celebrity-style dewy skin, you’ll need primer, foundation, and concealer. To give your skin a fresh look, go for liquid foundation and layer small amounts. Prime your skin first and then cover any blemishes or redness with a dab of concealer. Use a brush or your fingers to apply your foundation. Blend with a damp beauty blending sponge for a perfect finish.

Once you’ve laid the foundations, lift your skin and define your features with highlighter and bronzer. Use a kabuki brush to add a golden glow to your cheeks and temples. Add a few dots of highlighter to the brow bones, cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. Finish off with a clear or nude gloss and some mascara. If you’re going out for a meal or to a bar, simply add some color on the lip or go for bolder eye makeup.

Drink lots of water

No amount of makeup will make your skin look bright and clear if you’re dehydrated. Make sure you drink enough water. If you haven’t had enough to drink, you may suffer from headaches, lethargy and dull and dry skin. Keep a bottle of water in your bag and don’t rely on coffee to power you through the day. If you’re exercising, it’s hot outside, or you’ve been drinking alcohol, increase your intake of water.

You may think that exercise is bad for your skin because it makes you sweat, but it’s actually really beneficial for your complexion. Working out boosts blood circulation, which ensures that valuable nutrients reach the surface of the skin. Check out http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/acne/features/exercise to find out more about the benefits of exercise.

If you dream of dewy skin like the stars of Instagram, you’re not alone. But you don’t have to be an A-lister to have a beautiful complexion. Follow these top tips to keep your skin in check and achieve that flawless natural look.

What's In My Makeup Bag?

Just like everybody else I like to keep my makeup essentials in one bag. However, every now and then I try to mix it's contents up a bit. Either to make room for new cosmetics or there's an older product I want to use again or maybe because I simply ran out of something and replaced it with something new.

So here's what I'm hoping will become a new series on this blog: makeup bag mix-up! Let's start with what's in my makeup bag right now!

Essence Gel Nail Polish 36 Dare it Nude

Brushes: concealer brush, eyeliner brush, angled brush, Sigma E30 brushMAC 221 brush, blush brush.

Other: nail file, eyelash curler, pink tweezers, small scissors, eyelash glue, Artdeco makeup pencil sharpener, lens case.

I-MIIX Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base #2 Green
3CE Fitting Cushion Foundation
Yves Rocher Lip balm

The newest product here would be the Essence Gel Nail Polish. I love the shade, but I don't think they actually last much longer than regular nail polishes. It's fine, though, since they are so cheap and the shade is definitely one of the prettiest nude nail polishes I've had!
